Health Level 7 è lo standard riconosciuto a livello internazionale per lo scambio di dati informatici in ambito medico che permettere ai sistemi sanitari di dialogare tra loro.
HL7 definisce il livello di interoperabilità per lo scambio dei messaggi tra i vari sistemi e le organizzazioni, per il supporto alle decisioni, i linguaggi di mark-up utilizzzati per la definizione dei documenti, l'integrazione delle intefacce i metodi per lo sviluppo dei messaggi ed il modello di rappresentazione dei dati.
HL7 è un'organizzazione mondiale presente in più di 35 paesi.

The organization also announced that the presentation slides and video recordings are now freely available to view on the HL7 website. The HL7 FHIR® Applications Roundtable was held at the LSU Human Development Center in New Orleans, LA on December 6 and 7, 2017 and highlighted 30 FHIR-based solutions available today.
